A South Korean nursing assistant has been arrested for illegally performing plastic surgery on about 1,000 patients over a period of three years. The nursing assistant, only identified as a 70-year-old man, posed as a doctor from 2015 to 2018, performing some 1,500 illicit cosmetic surgeries on around 1,000 victims.  Through the illegal medical practices, he earned about 1 billion won (about 900,000 U.S. dollars).  A 56-year-old plastic surgeon, the head of a clinic in Joongrang district in eastern Seoul, was also arrested for his collusion with the nursing assistant in violation of the medical law. The nursing assistant attracted customers from beauty salons and skin care shops near the clinic, mainly performing face-lift and double eyelid surgeries.   Other employees of the clinic thought that the nursing assistant was a real doctor as he and the chief surgeon kept it secret thoroughly, the police was quoted as saying. Appeal Court Dismisses Metuh’s Appeal, Rejects Request to Travel Abroad for Medicals

The Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal by a former Spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, seeking to upturn the decision of a Federal High Court, Abuja, not to release his international passport for him to travel abroad.Metuh who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for alleged N400 million fraud had on February 22, 2017, through his counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, applied for the release of his passport in order for him to “travel to the United Kingdom for five weeks to attend to his failing health”.Justice Okon Abang had dismissed the application as “lacking in merit”, and sternly warned his counsel against deploying tactics to delay the trial, which has been ongoing since January 6, 2016.Dissatisfied with the ruling, Metuh had approached the Appellate Court, praying for the release of his travel document.The Court of Appeal, however, on January 30, 2019 ruled that his application was “an abuse of court process”, as

2019 election: NBC sanctions NTA, AIT, Channels TV, TVC for allowing hate speeches by politicians

  Four major television stations in the country have been sanctioned by the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC for airing hate speech.   The television stations are: Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, African Independent Television, AIT, Channels TV and Television Continental, TVC. They were sanctioned for allowing hate speeches by politicians from both the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the main opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to be aired on their networks.   According to the Director General of NBC, Malam Is’haq Modibbo Kawu during a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, he said letters to the affected organisations notifying them about the sanction were awaiting delivery in his office.   He said the four stations failed to shut out chieftains of both parties who wilfully engaged in hate speeches during their political campaigns.  He said, ‘’Broadcasters have huge responsibility of protecting and guiding our democracy; and we have a very huge responsibili

One pastor William Emeka, who is accused of raping four women in Bronkhorstspruit, east of Pretoria, fears for his life, his attorney Omoregie Ogboro said today. Speaking to African News Agency (ANA) shortly after Emeka made another brief appearance in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s Court, Ogboro said Emeka abandoned his bail bid on December 5 last year because he feared being attacked by some members of the public. “There was a lot of tension and his church was burnt,” said Ogboro. The 43-year-old Emeka, said to be a Democratic Republic of Congo national, was arrested in November last year and his church was burnt by unknown people near Bronkhorstspruit in the same month. He faces four charges of rape and two of sexual assault.  Allegations are that Emeka asked four female congregants to take off their clothes before he smeared them with anointing oil and then raped them. On December 5 last year, police saved a Nigerian man from a crowd of people who wanted to attack and throw him

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested 35-year old Dorathy Sunday, pictured above, for allegedly stealing a five day old twin baby boy at the maternity ward of the Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi, Anambra state. A statement from the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Haruna Mohammed, said the suspect sneaked into the Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi at about 5pm yesterday January 30th and stole a five day old twin baby boy at the maternity ward of the hospital when the mother of the baby, 22-year-old Mmadu Happiness Miracle of  Uruagu, Nnewi went to the hospital compound to wash her clothes. However, luck ran out of the suspect when Nurses at the hospital gate saw her in a suspicious manner and raised an alarm which led to her arrest. Meanwhile, the stolen baby was recovered in good condition and the case is under investigation after which suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.The post Photo: Woman arrested for stealing baby

Lil Wayne files $20 million suit against his former lawyer for 'overcharging him' for 13 years.

  American rapper, Lil Wayne has filed a $20 million lawsuit against his former attorney Ronald Sweeney, over claims he charged him beyond the industry standard for 13 years. In the court documents obtained by TMZ, the 36-year-old Grammy Award-winning rapper claims that Sweeney who served as his lawyer from 2005 through September 2018 charged him 10 percent when most deals in the industry were around five percent. According to Lil Wayne, the up-charge saw Sweeney make $20 million during his tenure.It was also claimed in the document, that the lawyer got greedy and started proposing he get an additional 10 percent of all profits from Wayne's label, Young Money but the rapper prevented that from happening.  In the suit, he says Sweeney managed to pull even more funds out of Wayne by enlisting the help of another law firm for the ongoing legal battles with Birdman and Cash Money Records, as well as Universal Music Group.  Wayne added that the firm got 23 percent of the Cash Money sett
