Aiteo's Benny Peters was decorated as Africa’s Oil and Gas Leader of the Year by Forbes Best of Africa Gala which held at Forbes Headquarters, New York City on September 27, 2018. While he wasnt in attendance his brother and high ranking members of AITEO dazzled at the eventBenedict Peters, the founder of Nigeria’s largest producing indigenous oil and gas company, AiteoGroup, has been decorated as Africa’s Oil and Gas Leader of the Year at the Forbes Best of AfricaGala which held at Forbes Headquarters, New York City on September 27, 2018. The billionaire was celebrated for his transformational leadership in Africa’s oil and gas sector andfor his resilience in fighting injustice. According to the Editor, Emerging Markets for Forbes, Paul H.Trustfull, “Peters’ ascendancy in Africa’s Oil and Gas sector has been exemplary as well asrevolutionary. His company, Aiteo, has thrived for about two decades – going from a downstream start-up to becoming a leading integrated energy conglomerate with strategic investments in hydrocarbon (or commodities) exploration and production.” Forbes Best of Africa Awards is an annual event that gathers Africa’s leading decision makers inbusiness, governance, industry and society. It is aimed at promoting Africa’s business, trade,tourism, oil and industry to global leaders who trust the Forbes brand for credible business and economic information. This year, there were also two other eminent recipients including Jim Ovia, and President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta. Peters ventured into the oil and gas sector as an entrepreneur in 1999 and initially traded mainly in the downstream sector. In 2015, his company, Aiteo won the bid for the largest onshore oil block in sub-Saharan Africa and became the operator of a major crude oil export pipeline in Nigeria,following a divestment by Shell. Three years after, Aiteo’s production is set to hit a peak of 100,000bpd. Aiteo, currently the highest producing indigenous oil E&P company in Nigeria, has also doubled the value of its asset from $3 billion to $6 billion. The billionaire has also donated generously to support the growth of football on the Africancontinent, as a way of engaging the youths and promoting good values. Through Aiteo, he sponsors the Nigerian Football Federation, CAF Awards, Aiteo Cup (The Federation’s Cup in Nigeria) and a team in his company’s host community. More photos from the event below...
