  Two cousins who killed the head Pastor of the End Time Believers Bible Fellowship  have been sentenced to death by the Tamale High Court in Ghana. Ghana Web reports that the convicts, Kwame Dogyi and Obio Akwasi who are also students of the Tamale Technical University (TaTU), murdered 64-year-old Pastor Ebenezer Ocran at his residence at Kumboyili, near Tamale on the Tamale-Kumbungu road on November 9, 2017.  They also stole his Toyota Highlander vehicle and gave to a sprayer at the Tamale Industrial area to sell at GH¢10,000.   At the final hearing of the case at the Tamale High Court, the prosecution called nine witnesses but the convicts called no witness and at the end of the trial the jury returned a verdict of guilty of conspiracy to commit crime and murder. Mr. Justice Edward Apenkwah who presided over the case then sentenced the two to death by hanging on Monday, July 30, 2018.The post Two cousins sentenced to death by hanging for murdering a pastor(Photos) appeared first on

Justice Bello Abbas of the Sokoto State High Court today July 31st, discharged and acquitted the former governor of Sokoto State Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa alongside four others on a 22 count charge of Conspiracy, Criminal Misappropriation, Theft and receiving of stolen funds.The accused now acquitted persons were arraigned on the 16th day of December, 2009 before the Sokoto State High Court.They include: Beedash Nigeria Limited, Nasdabap Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Nasiru Dalhatu Bafarawa and Alhaji Salihu Maibuhu GummUpon arraignment, they all pleaded not guilty to the 47 count preferred against them by the commission.Soon after their arraignment, the accused persons filed a motion asking the court to quash the charges against them. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has begun the investigation of Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, his wife Feyisetan Fayose, and his top aides including Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to the governor; Toyin Ojo, the state’s commissioner for finance; Oluyemisi Owolabi, the state’s accountant general.According to a report by The Cable, sources in the know of the investigation reveal that the anti-graft agency is attempting to nail the governor, his wife, and members of his cabinets on allegations of money laundering and abuse of office. Some of the letters seen by TheCable, dated July 20, 2018, and addressed to the managing director and the chief compliance officer of Access Bank Plc reveal that EFCC is also investigating the governor for abuse of office.The EFCC listed four Access Bank accounts being run by “Ayodele Peter Fayose”, and about five accounts in the same bank, being run by “Feyisetan Helen O.   Barely 24-hours after Eze Madumere was impeached as the deputy governor of Imo State, the Swearing-In ceremony of his replacement, Calistus Ekenze is underway. According to a report by Channels TV, the ceremony is taking place at the Sam Mbakwe expanded Exco Chambers, at the Government House in Owerri, the state capital.   The former Deputy Governor was accused of absence without reasons for a period of three months and a failure to perform constitutional duties like attending state executive and state security council meetings. He was impeached by 19 out of the 27 member-assembly. The Speaker of the House, Acho Ihim, said the impeachment followed the outcome of a report of a 7-man panel, constituted by the Chief Judge of the state to investigate allegations of gross misconduct. The new depty governor, Ekenze was nominated by the governor, Rochas Okorocha, after the Speaker read out the nomination letter on the floor of the House immediately after the impeachment.   The post 24-hours

Former US President Barack Obama and his former Vice President Joe Biden caused a stir on Monday when they visited a Washington, DC, bakery for lunch.The pair, whose bromance has always been a topic of conversation, spent about 45 minutes at Dog Tag Bakery in Georgetown, which runs a fellowship program for veterans.As Obama and Biden grabbed a bite to eat, they used the opportunity to meet the veterans. Three children have died of drowning while two others have gone missing in a devastating flood following three days of downpour that wrecked havoc at Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.The flood also damaged at least 10 buildings in the area and properties worth over N100 million were lost.A resident of the area, Mr. Christian Aguchi said yesterday that the two missing kids had not been seen by their parents as their homes were among the buildings that were swept away by the flood, Vanguard reports. "The three children drowned in the flood when it flowed into their residences. As we speak, two other children have not been seen by their parents. Even now that the rain has subsided, there are still floods flowing on some streets and one wonders where they are coming from.
